Type 2 Diabetes and Alternative Health – Why You Have to Keep on Moving or Exercise!

Type 2 Diabetes and Alternative Health – Why You Have to Keep on Moving or Exercise! – Exercise is just as important as diet, and in some cases as important as drugs in managing Type 2 diabetes. There are a lot of different reasons why you may have to move in life… especially when you have Type 2 diabetes. Why? That’s because exercise:
lowers blood sugar and improves insulin sensitivity
prevents or delays the onset of Type 2 diabetes. People diagnosed as being pre-diabetic can lower their risk of developing full-blown Type 2 by up to 65 per cent by exercising
burns more body fat, and if you lose belly fat you’ll also become more insulin-sensitive
allows the extra muscle to soak more blood sugar from your bloodstream
Exercise is not just something you need to do in order to be an “athlete,” or if you want to train for a particular event. Your body’s need to get moving and keep moving goes way deeper than just working on your 10k time, or trying to get thin to look good on the beach. We are talking about your life here.
Humans are the only animal on Earth who can realistically spend their entire adult lives being self-sufficient, and avoid doing any kind of significant exercise. You may notice that even household pets, who could languish in absolute luxury (and unbelievable sloth), can still get up and perform some impressive feats of strength, agility and energy usage. Suffice it to say that while humans are as capable of flexing and building our muscles as is any other species, we are the most likely to avoid doing so because it isn’t necessary in many people’s day-to-day lives.
Moving around does not have to be intense all the time. It can be as simple as brisk walking. It can be the little things, like always taking the stairs, and parking your car as far from the store you’re going into as you can. Going to dance classes, doing yoga, and just generally stretching and breathing deeply are all excellent starts at getting moving. A lot of people have a sort of stigma surrounding physical exercise of any kind, as if it’s somehow wrong or bad looking. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Keeping moving or exercising obviously keeps you trimmer. Jump rope every day, then try to get fat… it’s a whole lot more challenging if that’s a part of your lifestyle than it would be if you just sat on the couch all day long. While sitting around does burn some calories, it causes your muscles to slowly atrophy. With atrophy, your muscles become worse burners of fat… and with shrinking muscles, then how will the muscles be able to soak up sugar from your bloodstream? Also, keeping moving works at keeping your blood moving properly. You can develop blood clots from sitting down after as little as a few hours. Just getting up and moving around for a few minutes every hour can help you stay alive.
Remember to keep moving every day! It sure beats the alternative… and it sure helps work on those blood sugar levels.
